10 years down

cutting our cake

Yesterday G.I Joe and I celebrated 10 years of marriage. Not always blissful marriage, but definitely worth working out what ever problems have and will come our way, marriage. And boy have we had some whoopers. We actually have been together since August of 1998,but did not marry till May 4, 2002. I was gun shy , to say the least :). But eventually I made it down the aisle, even with a bridesmaid fiasco :)

We had not planned on celebrating till this evening because of Sasha having a softball game, but the game was canceled at the last minute and so we decided to take advantage of it. Normally he is more of a romantic than I am, but this time I took charge and surprised him.

We ordered pizza from a local family owned and run pizza place in town called Fox's Den Pizza. It is some amazing pizza, to me it is even better than Pizza Hut or Pizza Uno. We got a large pizza with onions, sausage and pineapple on one half. Before we left Fort Polk we stopped off at the class six store, aka the adult beverage store, and bought a 6 pack of Bud and a 6 pack of Woodchuck Hard Cinder for me.

Then we headed out to Vernon Lake stopping to pick up the pizza on the way, where we sat on a blanket, enjoying our pizza and "beer", picnic style, while watching the sun set over the lake. And talked. We talked about anything and everything, with periods of comfortable silence mixed in.

And even though is was the most low keyed way we have ever celebrated our anniversary, it was also the most beautiful, romantic, non stressful way we have ever celebrated our anniversary.
